Microscopic dentistry uses a surgical operating microscope to magnify the treatment field many times over. Detail that is invisible to the naked eye — hairline fractures, hidden canals, the true margin of a cavity — becomes clearly visible.

Root canal treatment benefits most: missed canals are among the commonest reasons a root canal fails later. Magnification also improves the accuracy of fillings, crown preparations and the diagnosis of cracked teeth.
